| Saturday May 27th 10am | Create Your Own Customized Plant List Using CalScape, WUCOLS, and other resources. If you tried to figure out a planting palette and been frustrated by inconsistent information and seemingly conflicting advice, this talk is for you. With all the sources of information available, developing a planting palette for your garden that is well considered is no small feat. This talk is a bit different from our usual in that we will be discussing one approach to developing a plant list that’s customized for your site. All those various sources haven’t studied your garden. You know your project better, and you can do this. We will start with reviewing how to take a plant inventory of your property and observe certain conditions there. With that in mind, we’ll look at using CalScape and WUCOLS to start a plant list in excel, then refine the options down including deciding what plants should stay or go from a technical standpoint rather than an aesthetic one. Solving for the technical issues first empowers you to design with confidence. This talk is most suitable for studious do-it-yourselfers, garden designers, and other landscape professionals. We will be discussing a process of working rather than giving plant recommendations. Join us and let’s take a deeper dive toward making better plant selections. Jennifer DrGraaf is a California licensed Landscape Architect and educator with over 20 years professional experience. Her qualifications include being a LEED Accredited Professional, ReScape CA Qualified Professional and Rater, and Qualified Water Efficient Landscaper. We do not want to duplicate nature, but drive to advance it with our imagination and creative thought. Hopefully, the skills we have learned, and the insight we have gained into the verity of the materials, allow us to achieve our vision and express our art.” ADMISSION: FREE Learn more about the Sogetsu San Francisco Bay Area Branch https://www.sogetsusanfrancisco.com/ https://www.facebook.com/SogetsuSanFranciscoBayAreaBranch |
